Palko Services is centrally located in Northwest Indiana, just 45 minutes from Chicago. Our 7 acre distribution complex operates out of 3 buildings totaling 41,000 square feet of Warehouse and Office Space.
Property
The 7 acre Palko property borders the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. We often see deer roaming our grounds in the early mornings and late afternoons. The back portion of the Palko grounds has a protected "wetlands" area and natural habitat for the endangered Blue Heron and other animals.
Warehouse
Newly expanded in 2013 Palko now utilizes 27,000 square feet of warehouse space. This space is divided into 14,000 square feet of picking area and 13,000 square feet of over stock area. We utilize bar-code readers or scanners when picking items to insure accuracy and speed. Nearly all of our shipping is handled by FedEx which has offered faster services to most of our retailers both on the coasts and in the center of the US.
Offices
Palko Services has 14,000 square feet of office space. Our main offices housing customer service & accounting are in the same building as our warehouse. Just across the parking lot are our newest additional offices which house the sales team, purchasing, IT, marketing and some of our managers' offices. Palko recently upgraded all computer systems to be running Office 365 and the latest version of our distribution software all with dual back-up and cloud storage as well as secure firewall protection to safeguard against viruses, fraud and identity theft. Back-up generators have been installed to prevent down-time during stormy weather to keep up our leading level of customer service.
Earth Conscious
Palko does our best to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Since 1999 Palko has been recycling any unusable cardboard as well as all paper products. We continually recycle all in-bound packing materials such as packing peanuts, bubble-wrap, paper, boxes, pallets and more. We do recycle cans & plastic as well whenever possible but on a much smaller scale. All warehouse lighting has recently been upgraded to energy efficient compact fluorescent fixtures to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible. And our Fork Lift trucks are electric to insure no Gas or Vapors are given off inside our facility or into the air we breathe.
GMP
We are continually attending GMP seminars to insure proper processes for storage and redistribution of products including current recall practices. We have been visited by the FDA to go over our recall practices and had no issues after their visit to our facility. Palko Services is a registered FSMA facility.
